Kevin & Cindy Elder have been serving as Assemblies of God missionaries in Colombia, South America, since 1998. They have been involved in many aspects of ministry, including church planting, training of pastors and missionaries, providing sound and video production for concerts and evangelistic outreaches, and touching the social, physical and spiritual needs of the hurting and displaced of Colombia.
Kevin was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. At the age of 27, he knew that God was leading him to a life of ministry as a missionary, "Building His Church" (Matthew 16:18). He attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He then spent nearly four years as a Missionary Associate in Germany, helping in construction and remodeling of a Bible School and an ICI (International Correspondence Institute, now Global University) facility.
Cindy was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and raised in a pastor's home, which took her to many parts of the United States, and eventually settling in Iowa. During a missions convention at her home church, she felt God calling her to missions service. Not knowing for sure what God had in mind for her to do, she waited on Him to open the doors and lead the way.
Kevin and Cindy met in 1990. It didn't take long for them to realize God was bringing them together to serve as husband and wife in the mission He had for them. They were married in 1991. They spent seven months in 1995, building the Cambodia Bible Institute.
Their son, Christopher, was born to them in 1996, in Des Moines, Iowa.
In 1998, they went as a family to Bogota, Colombia, as Missionary Associates, to begin the construction of the Bogota Bible College. Upon their return from this assignment, they were appointed as full-time missionaries, and have been serving in Medellin, Colombia, since 2001.
